Khunsuek, Krabi.
The camp is called Khunsuek. It's in Krabi, in southern Thailand, facing the Andaman Sea. A ring, bags that have taken thousands of blows, and a heat that never quite subsides. Every day, at the end of the day, a group of kids arrives there. They all have the same goal: to become professional boxers.
Nothing is easy there. The heat is crushing, the humidity sticks to your skin, and the training is unforgiving: you repeat, you take the hits, you start over, until your body gives up, and often a little after. We spent two weeks with them, in October 2025, training on the same ground, sweating as much as they did and lasting far less long. That's when we saw him.
He who strikesagain.
His name is Nuclear. He was 16 when we met him. More reserved than the others, a little on the sidelines, he still lands punches when everyone else is done. He's not the strongest in the group. He's the one who never gives up.
His family lives far from Krabi. To be able to train every day, he is housed by one of his coaches. He makes do with what he has, and he doesn't have much. His days are all the same: the camp, the bags, the ring, the fatigue, and the same thing the next day. Making ends meet is already a struggle. The rest, the real chances of climbing higher, he doesn't have access to. Not because he doesn't have the skill. Because he doesn't have the means.
In the ring,he changes.
In the ring, Nuclear is no longer the quiet kid from the camp. With the mongkhon on his head, he performs the wai kru, the dance that salutes the trainers and the ground before each fight. Then the gong, and he advances. He doesn't wait for it to come to him. He goes for it.
He already has fights under his belt, and the look of someone who wants more. Those who train him say it frankly: the skill is there. What he lacks are not qualities. They are opportunities.

His dream consists of two images. The first is a ring, a real one, with an audience, and him in it, as a professional. The second is Japan. He talks about it as a real place, not just on a screen. He's never been there. He's never been very far, in fact. But when he talks about it, he doesn't doubt for a second.
Next year,the boat.
One evening, he told us the rest. His father is a fisherman. Next year, he'll need him on the boat, and Nuclear will have to go. That means leaving the camp. Stopping boxing. Giving up the dream.
He said it simply, but he had tears in his eyes. A 16-year-old kid telling us, almost apologetically, that he would have to give up what he gets up for every morning. It's not a lack of talent. It's not even a lack of will. It's a lack of choice.
Become a boxer. And see Japan, one day.

A portion of each piece sold goes to an association that supports him on the ground, to fund what he concretely lacks: enough to live and stay in the camp, his travel for fights, and enough to keep going without having to choose between the boat and the ring.
